How Jesus becomes a solution to those who know Him

Shammah Temple Fellowship: Sermon of Sunday February 16, 2024

By Pastor Alexis Muzuri

Theme: How Jesus becomes a solution to those who know Him.

Reference scriptures: John 2:1-12

This world is full of problems, from the rich to the poor, the weak to the strong, the learned and the illiterate, everyone has got some troubles, somewhere. However, Jesus presents Himself to us as a solution to problems in the lives of those who are troubled and seek Him.

But how does Jesus become a solution to His Believers’ problems?

  1. When we give Him a seat in our lives

Giving Jesus a seat is to put Him first in our lives, in our professional, personal, family lives. In this story, Jesus was invited just as a simple person, among many others who attended the feast. Probably, only Mary and the host knew who Jesus was. The room He entered didn’t stay the same, everyone there ended up seeing He was not a random guest.

Those who believe in Him are granted not only some temporal solutions, but also those of eternal significance. Jesus wants us to provide Him with a special place in our hearts, which suggests He lives with us, not just at some special invitations when we have problems for Him to solve, but to lead righteous lives that have Him as the key player.

  1. When we trust Him with our problems

Present in the room, a problem occurred that the organizers couldn’t solve easily. Fortunately, Mary knew someone who could solve the unsolvable – Jesus. She was conscious Her son was not a normal guest as everyone else in the room. He is Messiah, He is the Lord.

Jesus came to the world as the solution to the ultimate problem to the mankind – sin and was ready to pay the ultimate price and lose His life to achieve that goal. Even those who were dying found life, not normal life, but eternal life in His ministry. He called us to “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

  1. When we wait patiently for His answer

When Mary asked Jesus’ intervention, she didn’t dictate Him to do it immediately. She presented her request and expected Him to respond on His own time. She even asked the servants to wait on Him and do exactly was He would ask them to do, when He was ready to do what He did.

This piece of scriptures teaches a very important lesson; to wait patiently on the timing of God. When it’s the right time, He acts with love and mercy. Why is it so difficult for us to wait for God’s timing while even Jesus’ mother was patient enough to wait. God’s silence is not a ‘no’, it’s a ‘wait a little bit, I’m working on it’ feedback. Jesus knew when it was time for Him to reveal Himself, He acted and the miracle cycle started right there.

To end, it is important to understand that Jesus is a solution to Believers’ problems. By giving Him a front seat into our lives and granting Him all the power to our lives, by trusting Him with our problems, and by patiently waiting on Him. May we realize and live by these principles.
