Theme: No word from God ever fails
Reference scriptures: Luke 1:26-39
In the world, there are very fortunate, influential, and powerful people. They think, say and orders are taken. However, they are even limited, sometimes they lose power and fame and their words may be ignored and no more respected. However, from God, no word will ever fail. He says, it is done.
Verse 26 tells us it was in the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, who was also elderly, and whose womb had been barren. Her husband Zacharias and here were righteous, but had a problem to get a child. However, God had spoken… they would get a child. God is ever powerful that He promises and decides when His promises are to be fulfilled. Through His scriptures, through prayers, through prophecies, He communicates to us.
Also, God’s choices are also sovereign, from Moses, Gedeon, David, Joseph, … No one could have chosen these people as they had a lot of flaws; they were not the best in their entourage. But when He says it, it happens, no matter what people think about it. Elizabeth’s womb was barren and old, Mary was a virgin and had a fiancé, but God knew He wanted these two to perform something others couldn’t even think was possible. Obstacles were there, things were beyond the norm, human brain couldn’t understand it, but God’s could.
Verse 31 comes with great news; “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus…” It was a step toward the realization that which people called an unattainable dream. The child would be great, the son of the Most High, He will be given the throne of His father… In other words, the angle was telling her she shouldn’t worry much about the ways He would use to make it happen, that His was are even beyond imagination and human comprehension.
The angel even showed proof that what God says never lacks power. Verse 36 does just that. “Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she was said to be unable to conceive in her sixth month”. Mary knew the story of Elizabeth and her husband very well. The angle was confirming to her that only God know how He fulfils His promises, not the conditions around them.
To end, maybe you’ve received a prophetic word, maybe God talked to you through scriptures or prayers, it doesn’t matter what people or the environment thinks about it, God doesn’t use any of those to make it happen. He’s sovereign and ever powerful, He is truthful, He makes it happen. So, do never ever lose trust in His word. He will do it.
