What can help Believers close sins’ doors?

Shammah Temple Fellowship: Sermon of March 3, 2024

By Pastor Alexis Muzuri

Theme: What can help Believers close sins’ doors?

Reference scriptures: Romans 3:9-20

Every important, strategic place is so much protected. Like statehouse, the main country’s airport, and the national broadcaster are among those places so much protected that no one can just enter as they please. As Believers, the salvation we got from God is so much valuable that we should guard it with all our wisdom and capabilities.

So, how can we close the doors the devil uses to destroy us through sins?

  1. By fearing God

Not fearing God, not respecting Him opens doors to many dangerous sins that one can ever experience.

The author of Roman’s epistle stresses the fact that the people in Roma had known God and what He stood for. However, they, unfortunately did not let that reality sink in their minds and guide the way they lived.

It is important to note that the fear we have to have for God is not of that a victim has towards a killer running after them, but that which is derived from the love and respect we have for Him.

Transgression speaks to the wicked within his heart; There is no fear of God before his eyes” (Psalms 36:1).

  1. By guarding our tongue

Guiding our tongue against speaking evil and with bitterness. This is so dangerous to Believers when their speech is not guarded.

Their throat is an open grave; they deceive with their tongues. The venom of asps is beneath their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness” (Romans 3:13-14).

James talks about man’s tongue as a very important human body’s part that has a lot to influence the whole body, the whole life. For we all stumble and sin in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says [never saying the wrong thing], he is a perfect man [fully developed in character, without serious flaws], able to bridle his whole body and rein in his entire nature [taming his human faults and weaknesses]” (James 3:2).

  1. By living in peace with others

In Christians’ Road to God, there’s nothing more powerful as maintain healthy and godly relationships with those around us. Do good to those who do you good, but also support, pray for those who harm you. Do not reciprocate anger, seek and promote peace and love with others around you.

Their feet are swift to shed blood, destruction and misery are in their paths, and they have not known the path of peace” (Romans 3:15-17).

In short, Believers live in a world so full or sins and other delish practices. However, it is possible to rather lead a godly life closing doors to those ones by first maintain their positive fear of God, guarding their tongue, and living in peace with others. May God help us achieve these principles in our daily lives!
