Shammah Temple Fellowship: Sermon of Sunday January 4, 2026
By Pastor Egide Nibitanga
Theme: Why must Believers proclaim the Gospel?
Reference scriptures: Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 4:12 & 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
A man was wrongly convicted of a homicide and was to be executed, but a witness had proof to present to the king so that the court’s decision be reversed. However, the man who went to see the king took longer time, stopping by restaurants and relax before resuming. Before he even reached to the king’s palace, his fellow was executed. Unfortunately, the king saw the appeal and granted the man freedom, without knowing he has already been executed.
But, why must Believers proclaim the Gospel?
- Because of Lord Jesus has directly ordered us to do so
Jesus has ordered us to spread His Gospel so that all the people on the earth come to hear and understand His words. For Him, it is not an assignment we may or may not complete as we please, at certain occasions, and at some places, we are to do it all the time, up to the end of the earth, and always.
What happens when we do not obey that order?
- Many would perish because they do not know about the Savior.
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14).
- It’s wasting the very essence of our salvation.
“Again, Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’” (Yohana 20:21).
- The blood of those who perish in our surroundings may be accounted on us.
“When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die’, and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood” (Ezekiel 3:18).
- Because it is through our proclamation of the Gospel that people will know the name of Jesus
Hearing the gospel is the only way we can access to the hidden knowledge of salvation. The Gospel reveals to us that the problem we are facing is not poverty, it is the sin, which cannot go away without Jesus.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him,” (Yohana 14:6).
- We are Christ’s ambassadors on earth
As He left this world, Christ has us present so that we can represent Him and His ministry. He gave us the ambassadorship so that the kingdom of God is glorified through the proclamation of the Gospel.
“We are, therefore, Christ’ ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God,” (2 Corinthian 5:18-20).
What are the benefits of becoming true Christ’ ambassador
- We receive assurance that he is always with us. “… and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age,” (Matthew 28:20).
- We will shine bright as the stars of heaven. “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever,” (Daniel 12:3).
All in all, we have a great responsibility to spread the Gospel and the world yearns for it. The Gospel is the solution we all have been looking for to save people’s souls. No shortcuts, no parallel solutions, no. That’s the reason why Jesus gave us that direct order: to spread the Gospel to those who have not yet known Him in order to represent Him faithfully.
